Guides

Each guide walks through one task with anon.to in numbered steps.

Hide the referrer on a link

A link opened through anon.to arrives at its destination with no HTTP referrer, so the destination site cannot see which page or site sent the visitor.

  1. Shorten the link

Paste the destination into the anon.to home page and press Shorten, or put https://anon.to/? in front of it to make a direct redirect.

  2. Share the anon.to address

Post or send the anon.to address in place of the original one.

  3. Arrive with no referrer

Whoever opens it sees the redirect page with the full destination, then arrives there with no HTTP referrer.

Use direct redirects

A direct redirect sends a visitor through anon.to straight from the address, with nothing stored and nothing to shorten first.

  1. Copy the destination

Copy the full address you want to send visitors to, starting with http or https.

  2. Put the anon.to address in front

Write https://anon.to/? in front of it, as in https://anon.to/?https://example.com/page. The home page builds this for you.

  3. Share or link it

Use the result wherever you would have used the original address. Nothing about a direct redirect is stored.

Add anon.to to a website

Sites can route every outbound link through anon.to with a direct redirect. The Integrate page has a JavaScript and a PHP example that do it for you.

  1. Pick an example

Open the Integrate page and choose the JavaScript or the PHP example.

  2. Add it to your site

Add the JavaScript to your pages to rewrite every link to another site once the page loads, or pass each outbound address through the PHP function as you print the link.

  3. Check an outbound link

Open one of your pages and check that a link to another site now starts with https://anon.to/?.
